Course Authoring and Development
- Do I have to know HTML or have any programming experience to use the SyberWorks Web Author?
- No, you do not need to know any HTML or have any programming or authoring experience.
- How much do you charge to develop an online course?
- This depends upon the content, the question types, and media associated with developing the course. Courses that contain lots of multi-media graphics, intricate, specific sound recordings, and special proprietary images will require more resources and will cost more to produce. Courses that are being converted from straight word documents or PowerPoint presentations with minimal multi-media requirements would cost less. Standards
- What does SCORM/AICC compliant mean?
- SCORM stands for Sharable Courseware Object Reference Model (SCORM), which is a set of specifications that, when applied to course content, produces small, reusable e-Learning objects. A result of the Department of Defense's Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) initiative, SCORM-compliant courseware elements are easily merged with other compliant elements to produce a highly modular repository of training materials.
- AICC standards apply to the development, delivery, and evaluation of training courses that are delivered via technology. AICC stands for the Aviation Industry CBT [Computer-Based Training] Committee (AICC), which is an international association of technology-based training professionals that develops training guidelines for the aviation industry.
- What does Section 508 compliant mean?
- Americans with Disabilities Act Section 508 requires that when Federal agencies develop, procure, maintain, or use electronic and information technology (EIT), Federal employees with disabilities have comparable access to and use of information and data as Federal employees who have no disabilities, unless an undue burden would be imposed on the agency.
- Section 508 also requires that individuals with disabilities who are members of the public seeking information or services from a Federal agency have comparable access to and use of information and data as the public without disabilities, unless an undue burden would be imposed on the agency.
- Although Federal agencies have an explicit statutory obligation to make all EIT that they develop, maintain, or use compliant with Section 508, the current emphasis is on newly procured EIT because it is the category that is explicitly enforceable by legal action. It should be noted, however, that other Federal regulations and guidelines (e.g., Section 501 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act) require equal access for individuals with disabilities. Therefore, Federal agencies are required, upon request, to provide information and data to individuals with disabilities through an alternative means of access that can be used by the individuals.
SyberWorks Compliance
All e-Learning projects awarded to the SyberWorks Corporation through the GSA comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act Section 508 (36 CFR Section 1194 accessibility standards), unless specifically waived by the procuring agency.
